visions of sugar plums ~ planning a holiday vignette

Last weekend, T and I made a quick stop into one of the local pop-up markets in the area called The Sugar Plum Bazaar. Such a cute name, I just couldn’t resist! Plus, it was held inside a historical mansion right off City Park in Denver { aptly named the Parkside Mansion }.

We only had an hour to spare, but we made our way through the first two floors of the mansion { didn’t hit the 3rd floor or the outdoor patio }. I’ve never combed through vendor booths situated amongst rooms, hallways, and even bathrooms of an old house – and while it was a bit busy and tough to navigate, it was still fun and unique.

The savvy shopper that I am, even in just an hour, I walked away with a few awesome scores AND some holiday display inspiration…

my sugar plum bazaar scores

Item #1 – a hardcover Nutcracker book. I’m obsessed with the story of the Nutcracker { and the ballet, in general } plus hello?! A perfect shade of pale mint green? A gorgeous embossed “N” on the front? And only $10? DONE!

Item #2 – a miniature white sleigh ornament. Here’s where inspiration really struck and I knew I’d be creating my first white-themed Christmas vignette this year.

I realize it’s not even Thanksgiving yet { well it technically is for some of you on the East Coast }. And, in all honestly I’m one of the most avid believers in “one holiday at a time”. Each year, I force myself to hold out until the turkey has been eaten before I allow myself even one Christmas song — of course music heard while holiday shopping doesn’t count { and this year, in a moment of traffic-jam-induced-weakness I might’ve slipped up and listened to a few verses of “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas” }. It’s not that I want to delay or hold off on celebrating Christmas. I just think that by waiting, we build anticipation for and make Christmas that much more special.

I’ve been gathering some white Christmas inspiration that I’m excited to share over the weekend. In the meantime { if you’re not too busy stuffing your own turkey tomorrow }, tell me – what do you have planned for a holiday vignette this year?
