a little sunshine ~ vanities

I’ve made two commitments to myself that are partially selfish and partially for you guys. First, I’m going to do better about sharing my wedding planning process. Not only am I excited to catalog it, I also use blogs and Pinterest daily to gather inspiration – so I want to do my part and share as I find, learn, and create for myself.

My second commitment is to share my random obsessions in an ongoing series {weekly? monthly? when it hits me? not sure yet.}. When I thought about how to categorize these posts, I thought about using “Current Obsession” a la Design Sponge or even “This. Is. Awesome.” but really, it only makes sense for me to use a lyric, a cheesy but loveable one from my favorite band.

So, I welcome you to “A Little Sunshine” – my latest interest, obsession, or fun thing I want to share that I think will bring joy to our lives {at least mine, but hopefully yours, too}.

One of the things I’ve been dreaming about creating in my bedroom is a vanity space. Now, to be completely honest, we don’t need this. We have a gorgeous bathroom connected to a walk-in closet where I get dressed and ready. Plus, when we moved in, we found these awesome matching bedside tables on Craigslist that work just fine to complete the bed set-up.

But out of a desire to simplify the top of my dresser, have more space next to my bed, and collect all my pretty things in one spot, I’m inspired to change things up. And let’s be real, someone with the design bug just never settles…am I right?

Here are just a few of the vanities that are inspiring me not only to create this space, but then decorate and style the top {hello pretty lamps, vanity trays, and gilded mirrors?}. I’m still nailing down my aesthetic but it’s clearly pretty classic and white with hints of girly-ness and pops of bold colors.

What do you think? Do you have a vanity in your bedroom or closet? Does it get a lot of use?

I used to have a vanity, and I loved it. It was so nice to have a place to sit and get ready for the day. Sadly, when we moved across the country last year, there was no room in our (tiny) new place for my vanity. I’d like to get another one some day.

Thanks for the input, Sage! Glad to hear I’m not the only one who thinks a vanity would be a lovely place to sit in the mornings and focus on getting ready. Plus, just that little bit of extra storage would go a long way in my bedroom.

Swoon! I love vanities, too. There’s something so feminine about having a little area for all your girly things – and one that’s uber pretty doesn’t hurt too!

Side note, what are you using to create you “vision” boards? I’m trying to find a good program/site. 🙂

Aww thanks! I completely agree. I’m still on the hunt for the right table, and hopefully that will inspire me.

I actually use Photoshop. My fiance is a tech-guru and gave me a little mini training. It’s actually pretty easy to learn, and I’m sure you could pick it up pretty quickly if you don’t already know how to use it. Let me know if I can help!
