the decorating itch

Hello lovelies!

How was your Labor Day? Did you spend it lounging by a pool, taking a bike ride, or beachside? Maybe all of the above? I wish!

Did you use your extra day off to tackle a home improvement project? Paint a piece of furniture, repair something, or reorganize a closet?

Whatever you did, I hope you made the most of the last days of summer!

We did a little bit of everything. Tried out a few new restaurants in town, finally watched The Great Gatsby {love!}, started – and almost finished – three furniture painting projects, moved around some furniture, and even snuck in some fall shopping.

Having a little extra free time also gave me a chance to develop a major decorating itch. The spend-hours-searching-for-multiple-new-pieces-of-furniture-you-don’t-really-need type of itch. We were already planning to tackle the furniture painting projects, but I might’ve actually finished them, had I not spent hours just browsing the web. Maybe not the best use of my Labor Day, but I certainly enjoyed it.

You can probably tell which areas of our apartment I’m looking to update just by the images I gathered as inspiration.

One major theme is the touches of gold, which is odd for me because I always used to prefer silver over gold. But, done in a subtle way with just pops of gold — maybe even with other metals mixed in — seems to really appeal to me lately.

Cheers to a 3-day weekend well-spent!
