Gold & Black New Year’s Eve Party

Happy New Year’s Eve, everybody!

Are you gearing up for a fun-filled celebration tonight? I definitely am and hope you have a wonderful evening no matter what you’re doing!

To treat tonight’s New Year’s Eve party like a real wedding, my sisters and I decided to splurge on professional make-up application. I’m getting it done at Laura Mercier and I will definitely report back on how it goes! I love her tinted moisturizer but don’t know much about her other products.

While we’re off getting pretty, I thought you might enjoy a few snapshots from my New Year’s Eve party last year! I can’t believe I never shared these, but now seemed as good of a time as any! I’ll try to let the pictures do most of the talking and chime in wherever I have a fun tip or tidbit.

Mini gold glitter clothespins held hand-written food markers so guests knew a bit about each menu item. I used two clothespins clamped together to create a stand of sorts and make them more sturdy since guests would be reaching in and around them all night.

Guests were encourage to mix their own drinks with a few recommendations and recipes provided on more clothespin signs. Drink stirrers were not just for decoration in this case since drinks were mixed right at the bar. The fancy pom-poms on top, though… those were just for fun { attached by hot gluing a pom-pom to a cake pop stick }.

I purchased large cardboard letters from the craft store to spell out CHEERS and doused them with a light coat of gold glitter spray paint to make them sparkle on our main food table. A black tablecloth and New Year’s themed confetti were simple finishing touches.

The homemade caramel popcorn { I used this recipe } and the Resolutions wall were the two big hits of the party.

To create the wall, we doubled up two sheets of kraft paper { to prevent ink bleeding through } and hung it at the entrance to the party. Guests were then encouraged to leave an anonymous — or not — resolution at any point during the party because writing down our goals makes it much more likely that we’ll achieve them.
