Link Love – January 23rd

Oh Friday, how we love you. In just a few short hours, we’ll be kicking off our heels, unplugging from our laptops { step away from the e-mail } , and pouring a glass of wine — or in my case, something bubbly!

I started the week off wearing my leather jacket and taking a leisurely walk to brunch with friends, then trudge through a snow storm mid-week while anxiously awaiting the arrival of my passport { can’t wait to tell you why! } and organizing my office. I’m looking forward to both skiing and *hopefully* seeing Wild in theaters { must. finish. book. first. } this weekend. What are you up to?

While you’re enjoying some relaxation time this weekend — or just in need of some light reading { and shopping } during your lunch hour — here are a few things I loved around the web this week.

1 // Particularly appropriate knowing Valentine’s Day is around the corner, this article chronicles the testing of a scientific study on love in real life. We may believe that love is something that happens to us, but “this study assumes… that love is an action.” A great reminder to be active in the relationships in our lives. via The New York Times

2 // One of the blogs I’ve read for a long time is Centsational Girl, not just for Kate’s amazing DIY projects or interior decorating, but for posts like last week’s about getting out of a funk. I can totally relate! I’ve missed several blogging days in January and am hoping to get back into the swing of things. Seeing Jerry Seinfeld’s schtick on The Tonight Show about having too much stuff also motivated me into declutter mode this week { definitely worth the 5 minute watch! }.

3 // Fun fact: Colorado doesn’t use traditional salt to de-ice our roads. Don’t believe me? Read this Wired article from last month. But, for those of you who do experience the destruction of shoes and boots from overzealous salt application, I’m curious to know if PureWow’s water + vinegar solution actually removes salt stains. Anybody tried it?

{ PS – for anyone counting, that was actually two fun articles for the price of one! }

4 // Have I told you how much I love this home tour yet? The full tour was on Style Me Pretty Living recently { my fave! }. Who knew Ikea furniture and shelves could look so incredibly romantic and stylish? But, what I love even more is Brittany’s honest writing about the stains, chips, and real life you don’t see in these gorgeous photos. #preach #reallife

5 // Just three years out of college, abstract artist, Britt Bass Turner, is doing BIG things like appearing in Jezebel and launching a collaboration with Artfully Walls — and let me just say, you’re probably going to want to go shop it now. You’ve probably seen her Navy Geo print in many an inspirational gallery wall pin, but now’s the chance to get ahead of the curve and nab the next hot Britt Bass painting { sadly — but good for her — original commissions are booked through February }.
