Weekending // Vermont Wedding Getaway

If you’re following along on my Instagram adventures { the best way to keep up with Bubbly between posts }, you know that T-man and I spent a weekend in Burlington, Vermont for a friend’s wedding last month. Although I left my Nikon DSLR at home { #fail }, I still wanted to share a recap of our adventures including my wedding guest attire.

Shelburne Farms Vermont Wedding Weekend // Bubbly Design Co

The weekend consisted of a rehearsal dinner on Friday evening and the outdoor ceremony & reception on Saturday afternoon. Friday’s dinner was held at Waterworks in the nearby town of Winooski. If you’re in the area, I highly recommend this spot for the ambience { less so the food, but it was okay }. Try to go before the sun sets or for brunch so you can make the most of the beautiful views of the Winooski River.

The wedding itself was held at the breathtakingly gorgeous Shelburne Farms property just minutes outside of Burlington. With sweeping views of Lake Champlain, the mountains, and open grassy fields, it was a covetable spot for a wedding. Plus, we got to watch an impeccable sunset while overlooking the lake — such a memorable way to celebrate the newlyweds and a night I’m sure we won’t forget.

I cannot say enough great things about the black romper I wore to the rehearsal dinner. The slightly dressier fabric and longer-cut of the shorts make it versatile enough to go from semi-casual work environment to a hot date night.  And yes, my friend Farrell and I were literally the twin girl emojis for the night. Lucky for you, it’s still available in a few sizes and on super sale! Can you believe that? Scoop it up now!

For those of you who asked, I ended up buying the Seychelles gold wedges but decided to return them based on their 4.5″ heel height. They worked for my extra-long maxi but I couldn’t see myself wearing them regularly. Since I was crunched for time, I borrowed an incredibly comfortable pair of nudge wedges { Lucky Brand } that were hardly visible under the dress.

To note, I’ve since purchased these Ann Taylor wedges in a neutral camel color. Unfortunately it looks like they’ve been so popular, they sold out but if you happen to find them in stores, I recommend going up a half size from your normal size. I fit the 8.5 but the soft leather strips pinched me just enough to make the 9 the most comfortable option.

In addition to being a guest at the wedding, I was also fortunate enough to work with the bride & groom to design their entire wedding suite, which included so many fun elements from a custom illustrated save the date featuring the mountains of Burlington to a wedding logo, ceremony program, guest schedule, menu card and more.
