Hosting a Gender Neutral Baby Shower

At the end of the September and just a few days after her due date, my sister and brother-in-law welcomed an absolutely adorable baby girl into the world. So it’s official–I’mΒ now an auntΒ to little Asher Skye {or as I call her baby Asher}!

But I’m skipping ahead! Just a few weeks before we got to meet baby Asher, we hosted a shower honoring my sister and “Boone” {the gender neutral nickname the baby picked up} at her home in Virginia. Since she and my brother-in-law had decided not to find out the gender, we chose a yellow & gray color scheme and let the details flow from there starting with a fun elephant invitation I custom designed for the party.

We folded the yellow chevron paper into a diaper shape and closed it with a diaper pin paper fastener found at Michaels. This amped up the cuteness and helped group the invite and registry card {provided byΒ BabyLi.st}. They were a bit time consuming, but fairly easy to fold, slip on and pin once I got the hang of it {hint: making a template is key!}.

With the colors and theme set and the invites out the door, my mom, younger sister and I let the creativity flow from there and came up some unique details. It ended up being a really special day for my sister and my family; one I’m sure we will remember for a long time.

Lucky for me, my younger sister also happens to be an amazing photographer. I wish I could have her follow me around and make every day look this good! I’ll let her photos do the talking for now and be back tomorrow to share some more explanations of the food, games, and other details.

I can’t decide which of the details was my favorite. It’s a toss up between the napkins folded into baby diapers to match the invites and the wood frame with clothespins holding the wishes for mom & baby.

I love this! Great inspiration for an upcoming gender-neutral baby shower I am helping to plan. Also, those baby blocks are perfect! Can I ask what size they are? Are they 1.5 inches? 2 inches?
