The Reveal: A Gender Neutral Baby Nursery

It’s hard to believe I picked out a “half-birthday” gift for my little niece, Asher last week. I know everyone says it–and she’s not even my own child–but they grow up SO so fast! The 6-month gift was a little premature, as she won’t be celebrating that for another few weeks but no matter how you look at it, I’m months late sharing her adorable little nursery.

As a reminder, my sister decided not to find out the gender of the baby, so the nursery inspiration was based on a lot of neutrals. We chose between a woodland theme and one with more pops of color. Not surprisingly, the more poppy-colored design won out and we used a similar theme for her gender neutral baby shower.

I’ll let the photos do the talking and I’ve linked as many sources/DIY tutorials as I can at the bottom.

The nursery is fairly small, with most of the furniture and space filling a very specific purpose so I knew I wanted something small but meaningful to accent the space.

In addition to color-matching and creating a brand new wood-grain texture, Amber also added a quote from my sister’s favorite book, “As long as I’m living, my baby you’ll be.” Needless to say, my sister was shocked and surprised when she opened it and we immediately found a place for it atop the only display shelf in the nursery.

Lucky you, she is now selling this design in her Etsy shop and it can be customized with any quote you’d like { and how cute is her personalized note! }.

So there you have it–a gender neutral nursery that’s perfectly suited for my adorable little niece. I have no doubt elements of the room will change as she grows up, but for now I’m proud to say we created a welcoming environment full of love and personalized touches for her to enjoy.
