Bubbly Travels // California Dreaming

Lately, I’ve been feeling like I was bit by the travel bug hard. I’ve always enjoyed traveling and visiting new places, but lately my brain has been overly full of adventure-seeking and trip planning. Luckily, our new jobs, schedule, and budget are all falling into place and I couldn’t be more excited to be jet setting off this weekend for our first big adventure since Prague in February {where does the time go??}.

But where are we headed, you might ask?

While living in Denver, California was SO close that we were able to explore L.A., Palm Springs, and San Francisco but never had a chance to visit San Diego. After hearing multiple friends rave about it, though I added it to the bucket list and this Memorial Day seemed like the perfect opportunity to head west.

T-man and I will be traveling with another couple and setting up shop in the Gas Lamp Quarter for several days. I think we’ve nailed down a plan for hitting the big highlights — the San Diego Zoo, La Jolla, Coronado Island and Torrey Pines {for hiking, not golfing}. It may sound silly, but another reason we chose San Diego for this weekend was to see The Lumineers concert at SD State–originally their tour didn’t include NYC so we sought out a “destination” concert option.

If you’ve been to San Diego, I would LOVE to hear about your favorite sights to see and must-visit spots. We love touristy things as much as we love local, hole-in-the-wall or unexpected places and would be thrilled to check out any spots you’d recommend!

If you’re into beaches, sunsets, or good food, be sure to follow along on our journey in real time on Instagram or Snapchat (bubblydesignco).

By the way, the map above is one I custom created with Google’s MyMaps feature. It lets you create, save, and collaborate on a personalized map the same way you would with a shared GoogleDoc. It’s my favorite way of planning for a trip and mapping out a loose itinerary.

Hope you have a fun-filled Memorial Day weekend!
