Today T-man and I are spending our last day touring through Charleston, South Carolina celebrating our baby moon. I’m pretty sure that means we’re either strolling the streets, shopping, or most likely eating! I mean, did you see how many restaurants are on our Google Map? While we’re traveling, I thought I’d give you a peek inside my suitcase including three looks I planned to wear in Charleston.
Each look is pretty versatile and things may change as the weather unfolds or our plans evolve. Whenever I’m packing, I try to figure out enough about the actual activities we’ll be doing so I can plan around those. I used to count the number of days and throw in enough tops, bottoms, and unmentionables to cover the trip. But I’ve found that actually thinking through what we’ll be doing and planning a loose outfit to wear for specific activities is much more useful.
Look #1: For Shopping & Instagramming
I think this might be the look I’m most excited to wear in Charleston. To me, it captures the essence of what I anticipate the city to be. I’ll have to report back on whether that ends up being true or I feel out of place, though!
Maxi dresses aren’t quite right for my office environment and it certainly has not been warm enough to wear open toed shoes in New York yet. So this striped number has been sitting in my closet for weeks just begging to be worn. Plus, a straw sun hat just screams vacation, doesn’t it?
Look #2: For Date Night
My hope is that this trip will feel like one extended four-day date night. That’s the whole idea behind a baby moon, right? But, we have a reservation for one fancier dinner where I plan to wear this Club Monaco blouse and some of my favorite statement accessories.
A dress could also work really well for a fancier dinner. But in this case, I think the off-the-shoulder top is also a really great option. And since I plan to be in dresses most days, it’ll be nice to break things up a bit.
Look #3: For Sightseeing & Travel
I plan to wear a variation of this outfit essentially every day we’re in Charleston. It’s a great daytime look that can take you from browsing shop windows to happy hour on a patio.
Also, pants are not my favorite thing right now with the growing bump. I’ll take any opportunity to wear a flowy dress instead! You might recognize this blue & white floral one from my Instagram Story dressing room diary at Old Navy. It’s non-maternity but absolutely so soft and comfortable for my fellow preggos.
You can shop all three looks easily using the widget below. The maxi dress is sold out, but I found some other similar styles. And in case you’re looking for them, the two bags didn’t make it into the widget: here’s the embroidered tote and the black rattan purse.
