Since giving birth, my ideas about gifts for baby showers and moms-to-be have changed quite a bit. For example, I never would’ve thought to buy diapers or wipes, which may seem boring to the gift giver, but are actually incredibly useful and therefore a great and somewhat unexpected gift.
I also wouldn’t have thought to buy a gift specifically for the mom-to-be. But after receiving a few mom-only gifts during my pregnancy, I can totally see how much that little gesture could be appreciated.
One easy option? How about a graphic tee that celebrates her new role as a mother. It’s a title I think most women are excited about embracing. Similar to being able to call myself a “wife” when I married T-man, becoming a mother is a special life moment. And while I may not have rocked a graphic tee in years, I would definitely celebrate and embrace this new role / job title / life calling with one of these cute mom tees. They’d be especially great for maternity leave!
Side note: Each of these companies I discovered through social media. It’s been amazing to find and foster a community of moms, those that are supportive of moms, and brands that are inclusive of all kinds of moms. I’ve been pleasantly surprised by how easy this has been and my feed is filling up with women I admire, quotes that make me feel empowered, and brands that are doing great work (beyond having great products). These are just a few that I wanted to highlight.
“Tough as a Mother” sweatshirt from The Bee and the Fox.
“Don’t Mess with Mama” vintage t-shirt from The Bee and the Fox. For those days you’re feeling extra sassy.
“Called to Mother” embroidered t-shirt from Deck & Oar. I also love the henley, which was out of stock for awhile (so grab it while you can!). It would be a particularly good option for fall and it seems incredible nursing friendly.
“Mombshell” tee, which comes in scoop neck or crew style. Both versions have the added benefit of giving back — a portion of the proceeds supports the Alliance of Moms
It’s only currently available for pre-order but I’m digging the script lettering on this “Mama” sweatshirt. My dogs have always known me as “mama” (because I wasn’t ready to be called “mom” prior to having a real child), so it’s fitting for our little family.
